We had stopped to fish a little back bay and side channel that had this big boulder near the tail - right before the channel met up with the main current.

I fished up and down the little channel with no luck. The big boulder looked very fishy, but there were tricky currents and fly eating rocks that made a good presentation of the streamer difficult.

I figured my only shot was to get it right next to the big rock and hope for the best. "If you are not losing flies you are not fishing right." I'd been told by John earlier.

Sure enough, as my fly swung - touching the outside of the boulder - it stopped. Figuring it was either a snag or a fish, I gave the fly a good solid set. It fought back - I like that feeling!!!
