| Because
of the high water, we had limited choices of fishing locations. This
is going to be a real test of their guiding abilities, I thought.
Any guide can find fish when the conditions are perfect, but
it is going to take some real skills to find fish for us when the
conditions are really bad.
To be fair - John warned us before
we came that fishing was going to be tough - very tough. We were
not expecting much, the main rivers were way high and muddy. - not
even fishable. The pond was looking like it might be a possiblity,
though we were looking forward to some fiesty Montana river trout.
John suggested we try the West
Fork of the Bitterroot. It is higher up and does not have all the
little muddy feeder streams messing it up. No promises he said,
but it is one of our few choices.
This rver had the opposite problem
- low and cold water. There were many areas they had to walk the
rafts for several hundred yards.
